Spice Market

Last week we popped over the Leicester Square for a lunch meeting at the Spice Market in the W hotel.

As we chatted around a huge square table we had three menus to choose from: a la carte, tasting or bento boxes. As we needed to be fairly quick we opted for bento boxes (plated of 2-3 dishes so you get the best of everything!). But then we couldn't resist a few starters as well...

Baby back ribs - incredible!!

The largest, juiciest tempura prawns you will ever eat.

BBQ pork steamed buns (a fast favourite of mine these days)

Before we had finished 'mmm'-ing and 'ahh'-ing over the delicious starters we were brought our mains - it's a sharing, family style service so they bring everything as soon as it is ready and encourage plate passing.

I went for the Gourmet bento box which included shaved tuna tapioca...(comes very cold - bit of a shock)

Curried duck (very spicy!! - tip: don't eat all of the shaved tuna first, you will want some of the coldness to counteract this bad boy).

And a Pineapple Sambal, all served with sticky rice wrapped in a banana leaf.

I was really impressed with the food and the atmosphere of the place. Their express menu is perfect for lunch or pre-theatre, and it's a great location right in the centre of London.

They also have sushi on the menu and are opening a sushi bar in the restaurant this week. I can't wait to go back and try the tasting menu too!
