Point to Point

For my penultimate weekend living in the countryside (sob) it seemed only right to take part in an ultimate bumpkin day out - Point to Point racing.

For those of you who don't know, Point to Point is amateur horse racing around a course with huge fences, for hunting horses. Today we braved the snow that was just beginning to fall, pulled on our wellies and went to watch...

After an unsuccessful bet (our horse fell at the second fence!!) this is where we took shelter from the cold - warming up with soup, hog roasts and many cups of tea! Once we'd thawed out it was off out to watch a couple of our friends who were racing.

If you like racing Point to Point is a great (much cheaper) day out than professional racing, and sometimes a lot grislier (the ambulances had a busy time today!). A perfect way to blow away some Christmas/NY cobwebs!
