Anniversary at The Modern Pantry

For our anniversary we always do what we do best: eat. I've always wanted to eat at The Modern Pantry, so to celebrate 7 years we decided brunch at their new opening in Finsbury Square would be the only thing for it.

We were welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco which we sipped while perusing the exciting and individual brunch menu from Anna Hansen.

For me, brunch is all about eggs - but these ones had a delicious twist: served on a kashmiri masala beetroot, carrot, potato & spring onion hash with a tea-smoked salmon fillet to top it off.

Very rich, packed with flavour - thumbs up from me!

Ian plumped for the full breakfast: poached eggs with two grilled merguez sausages, lemongrass roasted vine ripened tomatoes and plantain fritters. For me the sausages were a bit too spicy and heavy but he still managed to clear his plate!

The new venue in the Alphabeta building has a really nice atmosphere for a weekend brunch date. The high ceilings with impressive lighting (interior inspo right there!) and the clever use of mirrors make it really bright and airy.

We were both stuffed full, especially with all the bubbles from the Prosecco, but we couldn't resist a shared dessert; this beautiful chocolate fondant with my favourite - a chilli chocolate wafer! What a winner.

We booked, but the place wasn't overly busy for a Saturday lunchtime, especially compared to a lot of brunch places around London these days! Highly recommended for your next date/girlie meet up!

Enjoy!
