Prague - the land of the sausage

I'm not really a fan of new year, it's often hyped up and trying to co-ordinate lots of different groups of friends is often a nightmare! So this year Ian, my sister Jade and I set off for Prague to visit my Dad for four days of beer, sausages, goulash and one crazy night of drunk Czech people setting off fireworks in the street to bring in the New Year!

The Christmas markets were still in full-flow, and we were greeted with all sorts of festive treats, including these delicious doughnut-like delights, coated in sugar...

Czech crisps...

And some seriously good sausages. I ate about 13 sausages in 4 days...not great for the new year detox!

A traditional Czech goulash with bread dumplings for New Year's Eve dinner.

1kg (yes that's 1000 grams of ham) Ham Hock which Ian battled through with valour on NYE! Other key players that night were Pig's Cheek (yes - it was really good!) and good ol' fashioned steak.

Jade's strawberry mojito - a revelation!

And a definite 'one to make in 2013' - this delicious goulash served in a crusty bread roll - the most perfect warming lunch on a chilly day!

Other than eating sausages, drinking beer and delighting at the Czech cuisine which is mainly based around meat (perfect for me!) we spent four days drinking in the gorgeous architecture and atmosphere of the city - I honestly urge anyone who hasn't visited to put it on their list for 2013. We took a cheap early morning flight from Luton with Wizz Air - a perfect weekend break!
