Planning an awards dinner for 500 people is no mean feat,
luckily, since Paragraph only bought the Scottish Hotel Awards scheme in March,
planning this dinner was already well underway by the time we came on board.
This meant that for the most part I had very limited involvement in the
pre-event activities. I was responsible for managing the ticket bookings,
designing and producing the menu, programme and results brochure and handling the
budget!
The night itself was an amazing success. 480 people sat down
in the ballroom of the Thistle Glasgow Hotel to a three course meal, with fillet of Aberdeen Angus steak for main (perfectly pink in the middle), and enjoyed an
evening of many, many awards.
The starter of beetroot marinated smoked salmon.
Entertainment came in the form of Gamu Neghu, Jai McDowell & many other fantastic acts.
We stayed in executive rooms, which had more space than little old me would ever need, and were greeted with a platter of fresh and exotic fruits – a nice touch.
And the answer to that burning question…the Scottish Hotel of the Year 2012 was…
