Sunny weather always brings out the explorer in me so this weekend we decided to head South to Brixton Village for some lunch with friends.
Every good Sunday starts with coffee.
We lazily wandered around the shops nosing around and taking in the sights and smells and colours of Brixton.
After not too long hunger got the better of us so we ducked into Kaosarn (also in Clapham). It looks unassuming from the outside, and it's certainly small, but the food is authentic Thai, tasty and cheap!
Like most places in the village it's BYOB and after living in the Caribbean I cannot help but choose a Carib whenever I can get it...it just reminds me of some very good times!
We started with ribs and chicken wings. The chicken wings were supposed to be hot and spicy but weren't what I was hoping for unfortunately. The ribs were seasoned with lemongrass which made for a wonderfully aromatic taste!
For main I went for Kuay Tiew Tom Yum - a steaming bowl of tom yum soup with noodles, deep-fried king prawns, minced pork and fish balls. It was super spicy but sweet at the same time, but not for the faint hearted!
The others plumped for Pad Thai, Panang and Kao Pad Kra Praw; a spicy beef curry with Basil and Chilli and a fried egg.
There are some amazing places to eat in the village; namely Brixton Grill, The Joint and Mama Lan. Check out more here!
Enjoy!
