Date Night

This weekend was our four year anniversary (!) and so Ian and I planned the ultimate date night....

The night started as all good date nights should (men take note) - with roses and Rosé in our hotel room at the Thistle Kensington Gardens which is in a great location for this type of romantic trip to London...spend the day wandering hand in hand in the park and the evening eating, drinking and soaking up the glamour of central London.

We then headed off to the amazing Covent Garden Cocktail Club which is just SO PERFECT for a first date it's untrue - a dark, underground, candlelit bar serving up some of the finest and most delicious cocktails, backed with great tunes and a great atmosphere. The best part about it is the happy hour from 5pm-7pm on a Saturday, which we took full advantage of to kick off our night!

Porn Star Martinis to get the evening going...

How to possibly choose...?!

We finished off with Old Fashioneds for the road - working for Whisky Magazine I sort of had to try their 'Oak Aged' version made with Woodford Reserve - let's just say is certainly left a lasting impression!

Next stop was some food - we picked up a great deal on Top Table at Navajo Joe which is a great Mexican/South Western restaurant just off Leicester Square. We were treated to 3 courses and a mojito for just £22.50 and the food and the atmosphere were so totally worth it! There's also a bar/club downstairs for when you've finished your dinner, called Below Joe.

We started with a cute sharing platter - which had us splitting the last Jalapeno Tempura stuffed with cream cheese - mmmmm heaven! We then both went for the classic chicken fajitas, which were divine. What's more the sauces came in these really cute jars which I wanted to empty and bring home, but I wasn't allowed. :(

After finishing off with a chocolate brownie for me and cheesecake for Ian we almost didn't make it to our final destination because we were so stuffed! But we ploughed on through because the final stop was one of our favourite nights out in London...The Comedy Store.

We hit the late show, which starts at 11pm and saw five great acts and laughed our socks off! If you've never been before and you like comedy (who doesn't?!) I would highly recommend this place, you can get food there too, at reasonable prices, and eat it while you watch, and it's such a well-established comedy club that you pretty much never get a bad comic on stage. One word of warning though - the late show does get a bit more risqué than the others - sensitive souls need not apply!

At the end of the night we headed back to our hotel and practically collapsed on entering the room - full of cocktails, fajitas and high on laughing and life - the perfect date night to celebrate a perfect four years! ahhh. <3
