Quick Brunch Spot in San Francisco

Last week I was rushed in and out of San Francisco for two work events. Spending three solid days in a conference room isn't too conducive to great sight-seeing opportunities but luckily we did have time for one great brunch - which basically made up for it all.

We were staying in the Mission district, which I would highly recommend for all you foodies out there. There were tonnes of great restaurants and bars in walking distance, and the district feels nice and residential...a bit more chilled out and less touristy than staying central.

A quick walk a few blocks along Guerrero brought us to Mission Beach Cafe on a gloriously sunny Saturday morning. We were fairly early (9.30am) as we were all super jet-lagged, so we got a table for 4 straight away.

They seemed to run a good system of putting your name down on a board on the door though, and you could wait on chairs outside in the sun on the pavement.

We started with flat whites before ordering a bowl of granola, yoghurt and fruit to share....luckily we did as this was typically huge! Certainly enough for one if you wanted something lighter.

Of course you know me, and the words 'light' and 'brunch' don't really go together, so for seconds it was eggs benedict all-round. However these eggs had a twist...made with dungeness crab and shrimp topping, before being smothered in the creamy hollandaise! What a stunner.

Oh, and served with potatoes, because...well...America.

Highly recommended if you ever find yourself looking for brekkie in Mission!
