Bad Egg Boozy Brunch

There's nothing quite like brunch in London. Apart from maybe a boozy brunch...

For Ian's birthday there was nothing for it but a boozy brunch. A friend of ours manages Bad Egg so we headed off to check it out.

For £32.50 you get bottomless Bloody Mary's, Cava or Mimosas and a choice of 3 dishes from their brunch menu - which are small dishes designed for sharing.

I was reassured to see they were well stocked up for our visit....

As a birthday welcome Ian was made to do a pickleback shot; a shot of whiskey followed by a pickle juice chaser. I'm not sure it's how he really wanted to start his breakfast judging by this face!

But he soon perked up once a spicy Bloody Mary was thrust in hand and we made our orders.

Personally I could only drink one before it all got a bit too much and we moved on to cava. The atmosphere of the place is really bustling considering it's location at Moorgate; which is usually a ghost town on the weekend. The staff are all achingly cool and the tunes are the right sort to wake you up for a good weekend ahead.

We were served by this devilishly handsome thing.

It wasn't long before the dishes started to come thick and fast and we were treated to an asian-inspired, egg-heavy brekkie.

We tried most of the menu: Sambal Telur (a deep fried egg in a spicy tomato sauce)

Cheesey fries with an egg on top (heaven in a dish)

Asian BBQ pulled pork

The staple of any brunch: avocado and poached egg on sourdough

2 x pancakes (with bacon and maple syrup and vanilla cream and jam for dessert)

We also had Korean Fried rib tips but they were so delicious they vanished from view before the camera got a chance to pap them!

Although it didn't seem like much food compared to other brunches, we emerged nicely buzzed and perfectly full to face the day. I'd definitely make the trip to the city at the weekend to experience it!
