It seems far too long since my last post, and not just because it's a new year! I suppose my time has been filled with other non-blog-worthy activities. We decided to have a group catch up after Christmas last night as our friends are back from their honeymoon, and Christmas family time is over.
To hold on to a bit of festivity though, we headed off to York & Albany's Winter Cabin. The cabin is essentially a nicely furnished wendy house around the back of the hotel, which you get given privately when you book a time slot. We snuggled down into the furs and cushions and got treated to some wintery cocktails and gourmet snacks a la Gordon Ramsay.
Our private bartender fixed us drinks from the menu - I went for 'The Hunter', which is apricot, lemon juice, Bombay Sapphire gin and Ayala Champagne.
After we all had a drink in hand the 'snacks' came out. I was so pleasantly surprised! I was expecting tiny portions and not enough of them....but these venison burgers and game scotch eggs blew that out of the water.
The paté portions were huge and delicious and so rich you definitely wouldn't need too much.
After gorging on rich snacks we had finished our drinks so needed to be topped up. As desserts were just around the corner I decided to go for 'From The Hip' - rum hot chocolate! Perfect for dipping the gingerbread men in...
£30 got us 2 drinks each and a selection of snacks which was filling enough. £40 would get you another drink, but our 2 hours were perfectly filled.
A lovely festive end to the festive over-stuffing!
