Last Friday night there was debauchery taking place in East London, hidden behind a creepy mask.
A line of risk-takers took their place in line outside The Yard in Shoreditch, eagerly anticipating what would await them behind the unmarked door.
As we entered, one by one, we were invited to confess our sins, before being given a mask to hide our shame, and invited to discover the spirit within...
We entered the House of Mask - the launch of Cubanisto - a new rum flavoured beer from the makers of Stella Artois, Budweiser and Becks. Taking on it's closest rival Desperados, this sweet beer is perfect for those who don't actually like beer - I imagine it best served very cold on a hot summer's afternoon in a beer garden....the bottle is glow in the dark too!
As graffiti artists sketched the walls wait paint-pens and glow in the dark paint, revellers were given a piece of a mask and were invited to talk to each other to find the missing pieces. Once a full mask was found each owner of a piece was granted a special key, which opened a box each with a prize.
Over the stage was a digital clock, counting down the minutes; we were intrigue but had a lot of exploring to do. We collected our keys and got trying all the boxes, until we all won our vouchers for a free medianoche - basically a Cuban ham and cheese pannini.
We then hit the mask clinic and customised our masks - throwing off the anonymity and releasing our inner creative.
Before we knew it the countdown had reached zero and the crowd was mesmorised by Killa Kella, an incredible beatboxer who wowed us with his creepy performance before building up the crowd good and proper for DJ B Traits to take it over and let the night begin.
Before long we were fully engulfed in the House of Mask....and I must not confess how the night progressed....
