Birthday Treat Part 1

This week was my birthday, and that always calls for fancy desserts. Like this one from Aqua Kyoto in Soho.

The one perk to having your birthday on a Tuesday is that deals are a plenty that early in the week. Tash and I decided to celebrate our June birthdays over sushi and cocktails at Japanese restaurant Aqua Kyoto (sister to Aqua Shard). We plumped for this great 3 courses with a cocktail set menu.

After a couple of Aperol spritz's on the terrace in the evening sun we sat down in the sleek black restaurant.

To be honest I was worried when I read rose and pine liqueur but the cocktail was beautifully refreshing!

For starters we shared sashimi and maki rolls. The sashimi was so fresh we could chop each piece in half to share with the blunt chopsticks! I could have just ordered more and more of these dishes all night, but be warned, if you aren't up for loving and sharing like Tash and I and you just have sashimi you may go home hungry!

For mains we shared these beautifully moist scallops with yomogi rice which was creamy and rich and the most amazing miso ostrich.

For dessert it was chocolate and ice-cream heaven, just like all birthday desserts should be.

The whole meal was perfect, and we left so full and satisfied (even after the worry over the sashimi)!

Mid-week deals are a great way to experience high-end restaurants at a fraction of the price; check out Time Out or Book a Table for the best ones!
